Mel Medarda Cosplay

I am super proud of my Mel Medarda Cosplay! I decided to randomly make this costume the week before my guest appearance at Holiday Matsuri in 2021 and I have no regrets! While it was a speed build, I made sure to get as many details as I could have right! Mel Medarda is a character from the hit Netflix show Arcane, which is based on lore from the popular MOBA League of Legends! At the time my main source of reference images were from the show, so it took a lot of screen captures and pausing of the show but we got it in the end! After creating the costume, the next challenge was the photoshoot! I was wracking my brain for months trying to think of how I was going to approach the shoot for this and finally came up with this idea after going it over with my photographer Guru! We decided to try recreating the look of her Councillor room, Option one involved me using pattern paper and electrical tape and creating the background by hand. I was halfway sold on this idea when I saw the glass sliding doors of a restaurant that a good friend of mine owned. It was literally a lighbulb moment and I knew we had found our perfect shoot location. We did a lighting test prior to the actual shoot because we really wanted to recreate the look of the sun beaming through the glass behind her and I think we did a pretty good job on that as well!
